When everything goes digital, techies have come up with solutions for one of biggest headaches of Keralites- plucking coconuts! Shortage of skilled coconut pluckers is one of the biggest challenges faced by the coconut farmers in Kerala, forcing them to depend on labourers from neighbouring states.
Now, three youths from Kasargod in Kerala have come up with a mobile application where you can find and hire a coconut plucker in the locality. You can also bargain the wages using this app. Besides this, the app also provides other skilled and unskilled workers including housemaids. Initially, the Android app named ' Smart Kasargod,' will have information on labourers in the district.
But, what would you do if you are not lucky with the app?
Students of Amrita Engineering College in Kollam have gone many strides ahead. They have minimised the human intervention, and you can pluck coconut even without climbing the tree. And you can harvest coconuts with just a touch on your smartphone!
Forget the hassle of climbing the tree.The machine, controlled by a mobile app will do the job for you. Besides the smartphone app to control the device, it can also be manoeuvred using a joystick, the students said.
