The United States government has found no evidence that aerial phenomena spotted by Navy pilots were alien spacecraft. However, the government still has been unable to explain the weird sightings, The New York Times has reported.

The New York Times cited senior Biden administration officials who determined that a majority of more than 120 incidents involving unexplained aerial phenomena over the past 20 years did not originate from classified American programmes.

But the report compiled by the US Defence Department's Unexplained Aerial Phenomena Task Force does concede that it is difficult to explain their acceleration, ability to change direction and submerge.

A senior official, who had been briefed about the intelligence report that is set to be tabled in Congress by June 25, told the NYT that there had been concerns raised about some of these aerial phenomena being linked to hypersonic technology experiments by China or Russia.

In April 2020, the US Defence Department released three videos taken by Navy pilots that showed objects whizzing across the sky in a strange manner. The DOD had then said that it had released the videos to clear any misconceptions on whether or not the footage in circulation was real or whether or not there is more to the videos.

The aerial phenomena observed in the videos remain characterized as unidentified, the Pentagon statement had said.
