Bengaluru: A 24-year-old girl beautician and therapist in Davanagere fled to Bengaluru after she was physically assaulted and threatened by a customer when she refused to comply with his demands.

The girl who hails from Mizoram and worked at a salon in Davanagere has filed a complaint at Koramangala Police station in this regard. The girl worked in Bengaluru from 2006 to 2019 and began work at the salon in Davanagere from April 16, 2019.

Her FIR copy states the horrific experience she allegedly had to endure and the reason for her decision to leave Davanagere and return to Bengaluru.

"On May 9, 2019, a customer named Jnanesh came in for a massage and I attended to him at around 5pm. He tried to force me into giving him extra massage and held my hands. I refused to do so as it violated our work ethics. The customer became angry and started shouting at me. I left the room and went to the main area as I could not bear the insults. He followed me and kept shouting, and said, ‘I have friends in the police force, even if you file FIR nobody will help you. You Northeast people have no friends here, do what I asked you to.’ He then attacked me and slapped me on my cheek. When he tried to attack me again, I defended myself by kicking him. My male colleagues stopped him, and my female colleagues took me to another room.  Then I went to the restroom to clean up and Jnanesh left the parlour.

But after 10 minutes, he returned with three other friends and started looking for me. I was hiding in the bathroom. Since they didn’t find me, they left the room.  My employer dropped me to my residence immediately.

Later, I went out with my female colleagues to buy eatables. Jnanesh and his friends had followed us. They insulted us in front of the sales boys and girls at the store," her statement read.

"I was terrified to work in Davanagere and I travelled to Bangalore fearing for my safety," she said.
