Mysuru: Leader of opposition Siddaramaiah took a dig at the BJP and JD(S) leaders while addressing the media on Monday. He mocked the ruling party leaders and once alliance partners by stating that they fear him.

“Just because I favour social justice, leaders from both BJP and JD(S) parties and the disqualified MLAs fear me.  Let them (BJP and JDS) lash out at me but our goal is to defeat the disqualified MLAs in all the constituencies,” said Siddaramaiah.

Addressing the media after laying the foundation for Bhovi community students dormitory in Mysuru, Siddaramaiah took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over Ram Mandir issue and his Maan ki Baat program.

Siddaramaiah said, “Building Ram Mandir in Ayodhya is good but Mandir and Maan ki Baat will not fill stomachs. People’s government should make sure its citizens have food, clothing and employment to make a living. If not, a few Mandir’s (temples) will not make any difference to the country and its people.”

BJP hit out at Siddaramaiah over his comments on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said the Congress never did anything beneficial for the poor in the country.

“Siddaramaiah has no right to mock PM Modi over such issues. They (Congress) don’t even have any schemes or initiatives to help the downtrodden. After ruling for 60 years, Congress is now thinking of common man and the downtrodden. He should answer why they couldn’t fill the stomachs of the poor and downtrodden when they were in power. They have just looted the country,” said BJP spokesperson Prakash.

Siddaramaiah further mocked the disqualified MLAs and said that people will not show any faith in them.

“The disqualified MLAs are anxious about the upcoming by polls and hence they are making loose talks and giving false promises. The disqualified MLAs are giving out assurances that they win the bypolls and become ministers and will develop their constituencies. But people will not pay heed to their words and assurances," said Siddaramaiah.

Siddaramiah also spoke about forming an alliance with Shiv Sena in Maharashtra.

Shiv Sena is no more a part of the NDA and they are no more a communal party. This is the reason why NCP and Congress are forming an alliance with Shiv Sena in Maharashtra.  If Shiv Sena decides to go back with the NDA, then we will not form any alliance with them, said Siddaramaiah.

Siddaramaiah then took a dig at state leaders and lashed out at ruling BJP government and once alliance partner JD(S).

He said, “During my tenure as the chief minister, Congress allocated funds to SC / STPs for a population of 24:1. I assured that justice was provided to these communities through reservation. However, neither the coalition government CM HD Kumaraswamy not the present CM BS Yediyurappa has implemented the lease reserve system. There’s no one who questions all these.”
