Tokyo Olympics: Olympic Village witnesses 4 new COVID cases, 2 athletes affected

The 2020 Tokyo Olympics continues to be hit with new COVID cases. On Tuesday, four new cases emerged at the Olympic Village, while a couple of them turned out to be athletes.

The Tokyo Olympics continues to be held amidst the health uncertainty and challenges surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. Furthermore, news Games-related COVID cases continue to emerge.

On Tuesday, the Olympic Village saw four new cases appear, while a couple were athletes, the organisers said. Owing to this, the total Games-related cases have risen to 155, while 20 of them happen to be at the Village.

On Monday, tennis player Jean-Julien Rojer from the Netherlands was compelled to pull out after testing positive. As a result, his partner Wesley Koolhof was forced to pull out of their doubles game against Marcus Daniell and Michael Venus of New Zealand.

Czech Republic, the USA, Chile, South Africa and the Netherlands are the nations to have been affected so far. Furthermore, Czech is enquiring whether there was a possible health safety violation by its athletes, as four of its performers have been affected, leading to pullout from beach volleyball and road cycling.
