Rajkot: Ahead of the second ODI against India, Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa seems to have found a weakness in captain Virat Kohli’s batting.

With the visitors leading 1-0 in the three-match series after a commanding 10-wicket success in Mumbai on January 14, Zampa explained how Kohli finds leg-spinners difficult to play at the start of his innings.

In Mumbai, Zampa dismissed Kohli caught and bowled. The Indian skipper had batted at No. 4 after India went in with all three openers, Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul.

“Virat finds leg-spinners difficult to line-up during the start of his innings. He is a great starter, he was 16 off 18 (14) in the first match, I think it is important to have a game plan against him. I have got him out four times in the last year or so, it is great having confidence against him,” Zampa said on Thursday (January 16), on the eve of the second ODI.

“With Virat Kohli, you need to have an attacking approach. If you are on backfoot and have a defensive mindset, then he can get on top of you. The most important thing is to have character when you play against India,” Zampa added.

He further stated, “I have dismissed Virat quite a few times now, but still he scores over 100 strike rate against me. He is a hard player to bowl to. He is one of the toughest guys I have ever bowled to. He will be more switched on in the next game.”

The 31-year-old Kohli, who holds many records, will be keen to not get out to Zampa in the rest of the series. The battle lines are drawn and fans will expect a befitting reply from Kohli to Zampa’s comments.
