New Delhi: India entered day 3 of its 21-day nationwide lockdown imposed by PM Narendra Modi in a bid to contain the spread of coronavirus, which has already breached the 700-mark in the country, with maximum number of cases being reported on Thursday.

Seven deaths from Covid-19 infections were reported from across the country on Thursday, the highest single-day count so far, taking the toll from the disease to 20, even as states registered 71 new cases, including four in Delhi. The total number of coronavirus cases thus far in India crossed the 700 mark, ending the day at 727, stated Times of India.

Two deaths were reported from Mumbai, both 65-year-old women with no travel history.

A COVID19 positive person has died in Bhilwara, Rajasthan. He had comorbid conditions including diseases relating to kidney and blood pressure, said Rajan Nanda, Mahatma Gandhi Hospital.

The US now has more confirmed cases of COVID-19 than any other country with more than 85,300 positive tests. But with 1,295 COVID-19-related fatalities, the US death toll lags behind China (3,292 ), Italy (8,215) and Spain (4,365).

The US is working with its friends and partners around the world to stop the spread of the virus and coordinate their efforts, President Donald Trump said on Thursday after an emergency virtual meeting of G-20 leaders on COVID-19.

"We talked about the problem and hopefully won't be a problem for too much longer. The United States is working with our friends and partners around the world to stop the spread of the virus and coordinate our efforts," Trump told reporters at a White House news conference.

Describing it as a great meeting, he said, "We have a lot of different ideas, a lot of good ideas, we are working together. The leaders gathered virtually around the world to discuss the whole subject of the problem that right now 151 nations have got.”

Trump said they discussed how vital it is for all of these nations to immediately share information and data.
