Multiple blasts ripped through the airport in the southern Yemeni city of Aden on Wednesday shortly after an aircraft carrying the newly-formed cabinet landed there.
Till last reports came in, at least 20 people had been killed while at least 60 were injured in the attack.
Witnesses said loud blasts and gunfire were heard at the airport shortly after the aircraft arrived.
Video footage doing the rounds on social media showed dozens of people leaving the aircraft when a first blast hit the airport's hall followed by gunfire.
Even though no outfit has claimed responsibility for the attack which has reportedly claimed several lives, Yemen Information Minister Moammar Al-Eryani accused Iran-backed Houthi rebels.
A second explosion was heard near the presidential palace in Aden where the newly-formed cabinet was shifted after the airport attack.
The new government was formed to seal an alliance between the Saudi Arabia-backed Yemeni cabinet and the Southern Transitional Council. Amid the Yemen civil war, both factions now stand against the Houthi rebels who control the country’s north.
