The Afghanistan Embassy in India's Twitter handle was hacked a day after the Taliban captured the Presidential Palace in Kabul and its President Ashraf Ghani left the country.
The hacked account posted a tweet, criticising the deposed President, Ashraf Ghani.
Abdulhaq Azad, press secretary for the Afghanistan Embassy in India, said he had lost access to the Twitter handle of the Afghanistan Embassy in India.

Claimed that a friend sent him a screenshot of a tweet criticising Ghani, the press secretary said he had tried to log into the account but was unable to.

The tweet which was posted read, "We are all banging our heads in shame. Ghani Baba fled with his crooks. He screwed everything up. We apologise for serving the fugitive. May Allah punish the traitor. His legacy will be a stain on Afghanistan's history."
The tweet has now been deleted.

Meanwhile, the United Nations Security Council has convened a meeting to discuss the ongoing situation in Afghanistan at 7:30 pm on Monday. The US has pressed in 6000 troops for the safe evacuation of its nationals and allies from the war-torn country.
