The Saudi King's mid-way plight while coming down his golden escalator had Twitter users reeling with laughter. No one pitied the 'poor' 81-year-old king who had to walk down the humumgous 10 stairs with the help of his aides. Exhausting indeed! The incident happened when the Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz reached Russia on Wednesday for a four-day visit to the country.
According to The Independent, the king was midway down the elevator, after exiting his flight when it stopped working. He reportedly waited for a few minutes, expecting it to start working again. When he understood that the glitch cannot be fixed immediately, he had to climb down the stairs himself. King Salman had reportedly brought 1500 people, a golden escalator and his own carpets on this historic tour.
Twitter did not miss this chance and exploded in its own 'punny' way.
That is not all! it is said that he has his own set of furniture too.
In fact, a Saudi plane has been travelling daily between Riyadh and Moscow to get supplies for the king. Back in Russia, two luxury hotels, the Ritz Carlton and the Four Seasons have been booked for the visit. It is also being said that some of the staff members of the hotel have been replaced by the Royal staff since they know how the king likes his coffee. All said and done, the stairs saga shows that no amount of Gold, money or power can ascertain your safety.
