NRI asked to squeeze her breasts to prove she's lactating by German police

What does it take to prove that you’re a lactating mother? Apparently, according to the German authorities at the Frankfurt Airport, you need to prove it.

And that’s exactly what happened to this Indian-origin woman who happened to be transiting through the airport and was stopped during a bag check.

33-year-old Gayatri Bose who is a mother of two – a 3- year-old, and seven-month-old - who was carrying a breast pump with her in her check-in luggage.

Bose told the Huffington Post that, “(They had) an incredulous tone.'You are breastfeeding? Then where is your baby? Your baby is in Singapore?'

“Inside the room, she (the police officer) asked me to open up my blouse and show her my breast. She then asked how come I didn't have anything attached to my breast, if I was lactating. She wanted me to show her by hand-expressing a little. "I was just in shock, I was going through the motions. I was all by myself as well, and wasn't sure what would happen to me if they decided to make trouble for me," she was quoted by the BBC. "It was only when I came out of the room that I began to slowly understand what had just happened. I just started to cry, I was terribly upset."

Officials cleared her after she proved that she, indeed, was lactating, they allowed her to board the plane.

Bose, on her part, has also filed a complaint after this unwarranted incident.
