India issues new Afghanistan advisory; tells Indians to exit country immediately

Synopsis

India issues a third security advisory for Indian nationals in Afghanistan, asking Indian nationals to make immediate travel arrangements to return to India. Indian companies operating in Afghanistan asked to withdraw employees immediately.

India on Tuesday issued a third security advisory for Indian nationals in Afghanistan, asking Indian nationals to make immediate travel arrangements to return to India. Indian companies operating in Afghanistan have been asked to withdraw employees immediately.

The advisory noted that with the Taliban gaining ground in the war-ravaged country, the Afghanistan government had discontinued commercial air travel services to many provinces.

In light of this, the Indian Embassy in Kabul advised the Indians to keep themselves updated on the availability of commercial flights and make immediate arrangements to return to India before the air services are discontinued.

The Embassy has also urged Indian firms operating in the country to immediately pull back their Indian employees out of projects.

For Indians who are working for foreign firms, the Embassy asked them to request their employer to facilitate their travel from project sites to India.

The advisory has also asked the media personnel arriving in the country to establish contact with the public affairs and security wing of the Embassy for a personalized briefing, including specific advice for the location they are travelling to.

This would help journalists make a better assessment of the risks involved, given the rapid changes in security situations taking place in different parts of the country, the Indian Embassy in Afghanistan said.

Indian nationals wanting to leave the country must register themselves through the Embassy website https://eoi.gov.in/kabul/ or by email to paw.kabul@mea.gov.in immediately.
