Synopsis

Condemning the horrific act, Afghanistan's foreign ministry said that the Pakistan government must act to protect the country's diplomatic mission in Pakistan.

The daughter of Najibullah Alikhil, the Afghanistan ambassador in Pakistan, is undergoing treatment in a hospital in Islamabad after she was kidnapped and tortured and released after five hours.

Silsila Alikhil was kidnapped and tortured before being released.

Condemning the horrific act, Afghanistan's foreign ministry said that the Pakistan government must act to protect the country's diplomatic mission in Pakistan.

The Afghan government urged Pakistan to identify and prosecute the abductors of the 27-year-old at the earliest.

The abduction came hours after Afghan President Ashraf Ghani lashed out at Islamabad, saying that it had not severed its relationship with terror groups.

Ghani said that despite repeated assurances by Prime Minister Imran Khan and his Generals that Pakistan does not find a Taliban takeover in Afghanistan in their interest, Taliban-backing organizations are openly celebrating the destruction of the capabilities of the Afghan people and nation.

He also claimed that over 10,000 'jihadi' fighters had entered Afghanistan in the last month.
