A case under sections 341 and 323 has been filed against the unidentified persons in that incident. However, the district police's initial report did not mention any attack.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was injured during the election campaign in Nandigram on Wednesday (March 10) evening. She claimed that when she was opening the door of her car and waving her hand to greet the people, someone or someone knocked on the door from outside. She got severe injure in her leg. On Thursday (March 11) morning, District Magistrate Vibhu Goel, Superintendent of Police Praween Prakash and other officers visited the Birulia Bazar area where the incident happened.
