Rahul Gandhi's gesture of eating rice with hands and sitting with commoners goes viral

Often dubbed as an elitist, Rahul Gandhi's eating with hand has taken Twitter by storm.

 

The leader was in Madurai on Thursday to witness Jallikattu, a traditional event in which a crowd consisting of youths and multiple participants attempt to catch the raging bull's hump as a sign of bravery.

 

After savouring rice and sambar sitting with women and children, Rahul Gandhi said," I have come here as I think Tamil culture, language and history are essential for India's heritage and need to be respected. I've come here to give a message to those who think that  they can run roughshod over Tamil people, and can push aside Tamil language and Tamil culture."

 

This act of Rahul Gandhi eating with hands instead of cutleries, asking the leaders to serve some extra rice to a girl and woman sitting next to him in the same row is now going viral.
