Bengaluru: Children, elderly, pregnant women and people with asthma, diabetes, and those whose immunity level is low and should be watchful about symptoms like cough, cold, body ache, fever and runny nose that may persist for over three to four days as the killer influenza called H1N1 or swine flu is in the air.
According to the Department of Health and Family Welfare Karnataka, so far 1968 cases and 92 deaths have been reported, and in most cases, multiorgan failure led to the death of patients.
Out of 1968 cases reported, Bengaluru has witnessed 282 cases so far. However, it was Shivamogga and Davanagere that reported the highest number of deaths. Shivamogga reported 13 and Davangere 12 deaths caused by the dangerous disease.
