In fear of spreading infection to family, former deputy tahsildar shoots self

As Covid cases are surging in Karnataka, the fear of spreading among family members is also looming large and some people have begun taking extreme steps to end their lives. In one such case Somanayak, a retired Deputy Tasildhar from Chikkamagaluru shot himself with a gun.

A death note left behind the victim revealed that he feared infecting the virus among his family members, his grandchildren and hence is taking the extreme step.

The official had come out of his house and while seated in the front seat of a car, he reportedly pulled the trigger of the gun which was placed on the steering side door .

The police have registered a case.
