It has been one-and-a-half-month since 11 members of the marriage party hailing from Kareem Nagar village in Chaubeypur area of Kanpur are struck in Begusarai with no sign of return.

Ration went out of stock

The bride's family initially hosted the guests for few days, but when their ration went out of stock, locals came to their rescue.

Cash from both sides has been exhausted

The local representatives of Begusarai have come forward to help the family by providing a two-time meal to baraatis.

Imtiyaz’s cousin Sagheer said they did not have any clue about the hardship they would have to face due to coronavirusinduced lockdown.

The situation at Imtiyaz’s home has worsened

“All the cash from both the bride and groom side has been exhausted... Though some local representatives of Begusarai are helping the bride's family, the situation at Imtiyaz’s home has worsened." "We have requested tehsil 'lekhpal’, who had visited our village a couple of days ago, to ensure ration for the family of Imtiyaz, as several members are struck in Bihar he said.

No sign of any help from the district Administration

Sagheer said: "Every day, the family members of villagers, who were part of the baraat, visit our house to inquire about their whereabouts. Few locals have been helping them with food but there is no sign of any help from the district administration."
