Tamil Nadu: IT raids at DMK chief Stalin's son-in-law's premises in Chennai ahead of polls

According to a report, the raids are being conducted after the IT department received inputs related to cash movement for the election campaign.
 


Ahead of the upcoming polls in Tamil Nadu, Income Tax raids are underway on Friday at DMK Chief M K Stalin Son-in-law's residence in Chennai. At least 4 premises of Sabareesan are being searched.

According to reports, one of the places where the raid is underway is Sabareesan’s home located in Neelankarai just outside Chennai. MK Stalin’s daughter Senthamarai lives in this house.

Sabareesan is a powerful face in Stalin's camp and is known for mobilising resources as well as holding talks and negotiations.

As per the local media reports, Sabareesan used to run a digital firm called OMG which handled IT wing activities of the DMK.

When the news of the raid broke out, DMK leaders and supporters gathered at Sabareesan’s home.

According to a report, the raids are being conducted after the IT department received inputs related to cash movement for the election campaign.

Earlier in March, I-T searches were also conducted at offices and residences of DMK and MDMK leaders. As per reports, searches were conducted in DMK’s KS Dhanasekar and MDMK's Kavin Nagaraj.

The 234-members Tamil Nadu assembly elections will be held in a single phase on April 6 and the counting of votes will be done on May 2.

Ruling All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) is contesting the poll in a pre-poll alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK).

The term of the fifteenth Legislative Assembly in Tamil Nadu is ending on May 2, 2021. As many as 6,28,23,749 electors will choose candidates for the sixteenth legislative assembly in Tamil Nadu.
