Swapna Suresh, the prime accused in the Kerala gold smuggling case, moved court on Tuesday claiming that her life was in danger following which directions were given to jail authorities to increase her security.

The court directive came on the basis of a petition filed by Swapna in which she claimed that some people who "looked like police officers" came to the jail and threatened her.
The applicaton stated that "the individuals asked her not to mention the names of any high-rankind officials involved in the case".
"They warned me that they were capable of endangering me and my family," Swapna said in her petition.
Meanwhile, the Customs department probing the controversial case told the special court that Swapna had made revelations that will implicate suspended IAS officer M Sivasankar in the foriegn currency smuggling case as well.
The Customs claim comes days after a special court in Kochi said that Swapna and another key accused Sarith PS had revealed involvement of 'big sharks' in the foreign currency smuggling racket.
The high-profile gold smuggling case pertains to the seizure of 30 kg gold worth Rs 14.82 crore on July 5,2020 at Air Cargo of Trivandrum International Airport from a diplomatic baggage.
The Kerala gold smuggling case hogged into limelight after PS Sarith, a former employee of the UAE Consulate, was arrested by the Customs Department on July 5. He is accused of allegedly facilitating the smuggling of 30 kg gold in a diplomatic baggage from Dubai to Thiruvananthapuram.
