On Saturday, reports says, Sonia may meet a core group of five or six leaders who may represent wider concerns.

This will be the Congress president's first in-person meeting since her return from Goa where she had gone for over two weeks in November.

Congress party has been hit by a wave of discontent after a series of electoral losses across the country. Veteran leaders like Ghulam Nabi Azad and Kapil Sibal have sought accountability. Others have opely slammed the style of functioning of Rahul Gandhi.

Meanwhile, reports say Sonia Gandhi has fixed a series of meetings on December 19 and 20 with several Congress leaders to deliberate on key issues concerning the party, such as the ensuing farmers’ agitation, strategy on the central government not convening the Winter Session of Parliament, finalising alliances and strategy in the poll-bound states of West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Assam, among others.
