"Why aren't we talking about this?" - This simple yet powerful remark by American pop star Rihanna about the ongoing farmers' protest on the borders of India's national capital New Delhi has opened a new front in the fight against the Narendra Modi government's farm laws.
Rihanna's tweet came in response to a CNN article which said that Internet access had been restricted to border villages around Delhi. The report also carried a video of the January 26 clashes in the national capital.
The report cited the Union Home Ministry as saying that the Internet blockade was aimed at maintaining public safety and averting public emergency.
The post by Rihanna, who has over 100 million followers on Twitter, triggered some strong responses.
Among them was cricket Pragyan Ojha, who replied to Rihanna: "My country is proud of our farmers and knows how important they are, I trust it will be addressed soon. We don’t need an outsider poking her nose in our internal matters!"

Actor Kangana Ranaut went a step further and called the American pop star a 'fool'
No one is talking about it because they are not farmers they are terrorists who are trying to divide India, so that China can take over our vulnerable broken nation and make it a Chinese colony much like USA...
Sit down you fool, we are not selling our nation like you dummies. https://t.co/OIAD5Pa61a
