Superstar Rajinikanth has put out a statement saying that he will not be able to start the party now.
Rajinikanth, in a statement, cited his health condition for his decision.
In his three page letter posted on micro-blogging site Twitter, Rajinikanth said that he will serve the people without entering electoral politics.
He further said, "I don't want to make my followers and fans as scapegoats to save myself from the critics."
Rajinikanth said that doctors had advised him that the blood pressure fluctuation would affect his transplanted kidney.
The superstar further said that he is regularly taking immuno-suppressant tablets. So even a Covid-19 vaccine wouldn't help him much.
The major announcement from Rajinikanth comes days after his discharge from a hospital in Hyderabad where he was undergoing treatment for high blood pressure.
Rajinikanth was scheduled to announce his political entry on December 31. But that looked unlikely after the doctors at Apollo Hospitals advised him complete bed rest for a week to avoid stress in view of his post-kidney transplant status, labile hypertension and age.
Rajinikanth now says that the hospitalisation was a warning from God.
"If I campaign only through media and social media after I start the party, I would not be able to trigger a political upheaval and win the elections. No one with political experience will deny this," Rajinikanth said.
"I will do what I can to serve the people without getting into electoral politics. I have never hesitated to speak the truth and I sincerely request the fans and the people of Tamil Nadu, who love truth and transparency, who care about my well-being, who love me and live for me, and the people of Tamil Nadu, to accept this decision of mine."
