The Enforcement Directorate has summoned Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut's wife, Varsha Raut to appear before the agency on December 29 in connection with the PMC Bank scam investigation.

According to reports, Varsha Raut was first summoned on December 11  under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, but she did not respond.

The ED reportedly wants to question Varsha Raut with regard to "receipt" of some funds from the PMC Bank, which has been under RBI moratorium since September 2019.

The Shiv Sena has termed the ED summons as political witchhunt. Denying any connection between Varsha Raut and PMC Bank, Sena MP Arvind Sawant noted that politics was taking a very dirty turn in India.
