Modi praised the Indian diaspora for making a name for themselves throughout the world. The Prime Minister's interactions with the expatriate population in big gatherings have been one of the highlights of his foreign journey. However, given the present COVID-19 scenario, the prime minister is unlikely to convene a significant gathering or meet with the diaspora. Modi is popular with Indian Americans, who make up more than 1.2 per cent of the country's population.
