PM Modi chairs meeting with CMs of 10 states worst-hit by COVID-19 pandemic

 Earlier in the day, Modi also reviewed the emerging situation of Covid-19 in the country in a meeting with top government officials.


Prime Minister Narendra Modi is holding a meeting with Chief Ministers of 10 states that are worst affected by Covid-19 infection. Chief Ministers of Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Punjab are among others who are attending the meet.

Union Home minister Amit Shah and senior government officials are also present in the meet.

Earlier in the day, Modi also reviewed the emerging situation of Covid-19 in the country in a meeting with top government officials.

The government is working hard for better coordination between states, hospitals and suppliers of oxygen and vaccines to meet the demand.

PM Modi himself is monitoring the situation with eminent doctors, vaccine manufacturers and others.

The Prime Minister will be meeting leading Oxygen manufacturers in the country later today to take stock of the production and supply of medical oxygen amid its rising demand across states reporting a surge in Covid cases.

India recorded 3,32,730 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the highest single-day spike since the pandemic broke out last year. India has crossed the mark of 3 lakh Covid-19 cases for two consecutive days now.

The cumulative cases in the country have now mounted to 1,62,63,695.

With 2,263 new deaths due to Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, the death toll has mounted to 1,86,920.
