PM Modi cancels West Bengal visit to hold high-level meet on Friday

Taking to Twitter, Prime Minister Modi said: "Tomorrow, will be chairing high-level meetings to review the prevailing COVID-19 situation. Due to that, I would not be going to West Bengal."


Prime Minister Narendra Modi has cancelled his proposed visit to West Bengal on Friday.

At 9 am on Friday, Prime Minister Modi will review the Covid-19 related situation in an internal meeting.

At 10 am, Prime Minister Modi will interact with chief ministers of high burden states on the Covid-19 situation.

At 12:30 pm, Prime Minister Modi will hold a meeting with leading oxygen manufacturers in the country via video conference.

Earlier today, he chaired a high-level meeting to review the oxygen supply across the country and discuss ways and means to boost its availability. The officials briefed him on the efforts undertaken in the last few weeks to improve oxygen supply.

During the briefing, Prime Minister Modi spoke about the need to work rapidly on increasing oxygen production, speed of distribution, and innovative ways to provide oxygen support to health facilities.

He also directed officials to ensure that oxygen supply to various states happens smoothly and uncontrolled. He spoke about the need to fix responsibility with the local administration in cases of obstruction.
