Imran Khan is a legendary former Pakistani cricketer and the reigning Prime Minister of the country. He led the side to the 1992 World Cup glory. He played as an all-rounder, scoring more than 7,000 runs and claiming 500-plus wickets in Tests and One-Day Internationals.
Reigning Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has tested positive for COVID-19. The report was confirmed by Dr Faisal Sultan, Pakistan's expert in infectious diseases. Imran had mild symptoms while he is currently self-quarantining at home.
Incidentally, Imran had received the first dose of the COVID vaccine a couple of days back, while he was confirmed that the shot takes time to kick into the immune system. However, doctors from the country have time and again mentioned that the vaccine is effective and citizens should have it at the earliest.
In 2018, Imran became the PM of the country, as he is associated with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. During the pandemic, he has ensured that the country has "smart lockdowns" when needed while making public appearances and inaugurating projects, besides maintaining the basic COVID norms. Meanwhile, the Pakistan government has urged everyone close to Imran to get tested as soon as possible.
As for Imran's cricketing career, he played for Pakistan between 1971-92, besides leading the side to the 1992 World Cup glory. To date, it happens to be the only CWC win by the nation.
Imran made a name for himself as an all-rounder, especially for his fierce fast-bowling, claiming 500-plus wickets, besides scoring more than 7,000 runs in Tests and One-day Internationals. The International Cricket Council has recognised him as one of the greatest all-rounders of the sport and was also inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame.
