Bengaluru: A total of 103 people from an apartment in Bommanahalli in Bengaluru tested positive for Covid-19 after a recent party in the complex.

A get-together event at the apartment’s clubhouse acted as a super-spreader at the SNN Raj Lake View Apartment in Bommanahalli.

“All 1058 residents of the apartment complex have been tested and the results are out now. 103 have tested positive,” BBMP Commissioner N Manjunath Prasad said on Tuesday.

Significantly, over 90 of these patients are over 60 years of age. However, many of them are asymptomatic, he added. The commissioner said the situation was being constantly monitored and all necessary medical care was being provided. “It is under control now,” he said.

The BBMP has also sent samples to the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) to find the variant of the virus.

Prasad added that members who have tested positive are self-quarantining and that they are using the reverse isolation technique to limit the exposure of those who tested negative for the virus. In addition to this, the Bengaluru civic body has been carrying out health check-ups and maintaining the sanitation of the apartment complex.

According to the Union ministry of health and family welfare, Karnataka has 5,879 active Covid-19 cases currently, while 9,27,924 have recovered from the viral infection. A total of 12,273 people have also lost their lives due to coronavirus in the state so far.
