At least 32 people have lost their lives in the Raigad district due to landslides and floods after incessant rainfall, while three were killed in a building collapse in Mumbai's Govandi locality.
Several parts of the state have received unprecedented rains in the last 24 hours. The weather department has forecast more rains over the next few hours.
Pune's Khadakwasla Dam has been overflowing. The hill station of Mahabaleshwar in Satara reported 480 mm rainfall, the highest in 45 years. Another hill station Matheran recorded 330 mm rainfall.
State government officials said major rivers in Ratnagiri and Raigad districts in the Konkan region of Maharashtra were flowing above the danger mark. People are being moved to safer places.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and discussed the situation in the state.
Prime Minister Modi assured Uddhav that all possible support from the Centre to mitigate the situation.
Central Railway has announced that 33 trains had been diverted, 51 short terminated, 48 cancelled, and 14 short originating due to massive damage, track washouts, mud on tracks, waterlogging, etc.
The National Disaster Relief Force has deployed nine rescue teams in Maharashtra, including four in Mumbai. Based on a request received from the state government, the Western Naval Command mobilised flood rescue teams and helicopters to provide assistance.
The Navy has deployed seven rescue teams, including specialist naval divers and diving equipment, in the Ratnagiri and Raigarh districts. Airlifting of marooned personnel from the Raigarh district is also being undertaken. One Seaking 42C Helo from INS Shikra departed for rescue at Poladpur/Raigad during early morning hours on July 23.
Additional flood rescue teams are being maintained on a high degree of readiness at Mumbai for immediate deployment, should the need arise.
