MiG-29K debris spotted, search continues for Commander Nishant Singh

Efforts to locate Commander Nishant Singh, who went missing after he and his co-pilot ditched their MiG-29K trainer aircraft off Goa on November 26, are continuing even as some debris of the aircraft, including landing gear, turbo charger, fuel tank engine and wing engine cowling, were located yesterday.

Efforts to locate Commander Nishant Singh, who went missing after he and his co-pilot ditched their MiG-29K trainer aircraft off Goa on November 26, are continuing.

The Russian-origin twin-seat trainer aircraft had crashed in the Arabian Sea on Thursday after taking off from the deck of India's only aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya. 

While rescue teams were able to recover one of the pilots on Thursday, Commander Nishant Singh is still not traceable.

In a statement, the Indian Navy updated that nine warships and 14 aircraft had been engaged in search efforts. Indian Navy's Fast Interceptor Craft have also bee deployed to search waters along the coast. 

Further, the Marine/Coastal police are on the lookout & nearby fishing villages have been sensitised.

Meanwhile, some debris of the aircraft, including landing gear, turbo charger, fuel tank engine and wing engine cowling, have been located.
