Plot to target J&K intel officer foiled, Lashkar terrorist nabbed

Synopsis

A major terror plot was averted by Anantnag Police with the arrest of Lashkar terrorist Zahoor Ahmed Rather.

A major terror plot was averted by Anantnag Police with the arrest of Lashkar terrorist Zahoor Ahmed Rather.

Zahoor, who was earlier in Hizbul and received terror training in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, was nabbed from Samba near Jammu.

According to police sources, Zahoor was in Samba to collect a consignment of weapons which was to be air-dropped using a drone from Pakistan.

Initial investigation has revealed the plot to target a senior intelligence who had allegedly been recceed by Zahoor.

Zahoor is also believed to have been behind the killing of three BJP activists in October last year in Kulgam, South Kashmir.

Zahoor has been booked under the UAPA and is currently being interrogated.
