Giving his consent, Venugopal noted that the "depiction of the two fingers, with the legend that he means the middle one, is to deliberately insult the Chief Justice of India which would automatically be an insult to the Suoreme Court of India itself."
"The said tweet is grossly vulgar and onboxious, and I ave no doubt it will tend to lower the aithority of the Supreme Court of India as well as undermine the confidence that the llitigant public have in the institution of the Supreme Court of India itself."
Earlier, Venugopal had consented to the initiation of criminal contempt proceedings against him for a series of tweets following the apex court giving interim bail to Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami.
Kamra has refused to retract his controversial tweets against the Supreme Court or apologise for them, saying he believes they "speak for themselves".
