Citing the April 9 encounter in Shopian, the Kashmir IGP appealed to people, mosque committees, civil society groups and the media to condemn such acts.

Five terrorists affiliated with the banned Jaish-e-Mohammed-associate Ansar Ghazwatul Hind were killed in an encounter in Shopian on Friday.

The terrorists took refuge inside the Jama Masjid, making it difficult for security forces to conduct an operation.

Over the last 72 hours, security forces have neutralised at least 12 terrorists in four operations. Among those eliminated included Ansar Ghazwatul Hind chief Imtiaz Ahmad Shah.
