Indian Army on Saturday eliminated two terrorists, including a Pakistani terrorist affiliated to the Jaish-e-Mohammad, in an encounter in Pulwama.

Kashmir Inspector General of Police Vijay Kumar said that the Jaish terrorist, identified as Mohd Ismail Alvi alias Lamboo alias Adnan, belonged to Masood Azhar's family and was involved in the conspiracy and planning of the Lethpora attack.

A joint operation was launched after the Jammu and Kashmir Police shared an intelligence alert about the presence of some terrorists in the Dachigam forest.

A cordon was laid following which the terrorists were engaged. In the ensuing gunbattle, two terrorists were shot dead.

An AK-47 and a US-made M4 assault rifle were recovered from the slain terrorists.

Army sources said that the joint operation is still in progress.

The Indian Army and the police have been effectively neutralising terror threats to Jammu and Kashmir.

At least 89 terrorists have been killed in Kashmir since January this year.

Dealing a serious blow at the terror backbone, security forces have taken out top commanders of terror groups like the Lashkar-e-Tayiba and the Hizbul Mujahideen.
