A day after a dip in new Covid positive cases, on Wednesday there was a slight increase in terms of positive cases with 34,281 cases. The state also reported 468 deaths. Once again Bengaluru Urban remained on top with 11,772 new infection cases and 218 deaths.

The Covid second wave which rattled Karnataka in the end of April and the beginning of May with a rapid increase in new cases and deaths, now it seems the situation is improving. On Wednesday the state reported 34,281 new cases and 468 deaths. On Tuesday the death toll was at 525, however, the new infection was at 30,309 cases.

Although the numbers are high, the officials feel confident about bringing it down further. They derive this confidence from the daily recoveries as on Wednesday the state witnessed 49,953 people recovered in a single day from the Covid infection.

The major concern still remains in Bengaluru as the IT capital reported 11,772 cases and 218 deaths. The officials say, with a robust war room and over 6,000 officials deployed across in the BBMP area, strict lockdown, cooperation from the public and increase in testing and also early treatment is slowly bringing results as the City is now able to see a decrease in new cases by about 10,000 to 12,000.

Apart from Bengaluru, districts like Ballari with 1297 new cases and 23 deaths, Shivamogga with 819 cases and 19 deaths, Tumakuru with 2427 cases and 19 deaths, Kalaburgi with 440 cases and 18 deaths, Belagavi with 2234 cases and 11 deaths, Bengaluru Rural with 812 cases and 13 deaths and Mysuru with 1730 cases and 14 deaths remain a concern and efforts are being made to test, isolate and treat the patients accordingly.
