Bengaluru: Karnataka has extended the lockdown induced by the second wave of the pandemic till June 14. The restrictions will be in force till 6 am on June 14, Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa said today.
The restrictions that are already in place will continue. CM Yediyurappa once again announced a relief package of Rs 500 crore which will be distributed to unorganized labourers, fisherman community, ASHA workers, power looms, film industry and TV artist and workers, temple priests and moulvis in Masjid that are registered with Wakf Board.
The CM at a press meet said that although the Covid cases are down, he does not want to take chances and based on recommendations from experts and suggestions from Cabinet ministes, he took this decision.
TV and film industry workers, fisherman community, moulvis in Masjid, temple priests and ASHA workers will get Rs 3,000 each as assistance.
State records over 10,000 new Covid cases
On Wednesday, Karnataka witnessed 16,387 Covid-19 cases out of which 4,095 cases are from Bengaluru. And the CM during his city rounds few days back had asked the authorities to bring down the alarming number to about 5,000 daily cases down.
