Karnataka has officially become the first state in the country to implement National Education Policy (NEP- 2020), which aims at bringing fundamental changes in the education system.
Chief Minister Basavaraj S Bommai said policy of digitisation and research and development that could help implement the new NEP would be launched in the state.
Dharmendra Pradhan, the Minister for Education, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship was virtually a part of the policy launch on Monday. He said Karnataka has set an ideal example to other states of the country in going forward pertaining to the implementation of the NEP-2020. Also highlighting the challenges in implementing NEP, the Union Minister said, “I am confident looking into Karnataka’s intellectual capacity, it will come out as No 1 state.”

Addressing the gathering, Karnataka CM Bommai said, “If we want NEP to succeed, we must make it reach every child across the State. Digitisation is important to education for which we will bring a new digitisation policy,” as reported by PTI.
He further sought the assistance of technocrats and academics as he said broadband networking would be made available in every village, the report stated.
"The way you formulated the NEP, you have to help in making the digitisation policy happen," Bommai said. He said, under the digitisation policy, degree-level students would be given an iPad. A Primary and Secondary Education Council would be launched from district headquarters town of Kalaburagi, the Chief Minister further added as quoted by PTI.
Under the policy, several programmes including revising the curriculum for colleges to the flexibility of offering multiple programmes are among some of the key initiatives that will be offered to students who would be taking admissions from the coming academic sessions.
