Justice SA Bobde recommends Justice Ramana as 48th Chief Justice of India

Synopsis

Justice Ramana, the senior-most judge after CJI Bobde, was appointed to the Supreme Court on February 17, 2014. He will have a tenure till August 26, 2022.

Chief Justice of India Sharad Arvind Bobde has recommended the appointment of Justice NV Ramana as his successor to the post which the former will vacate when he retired on April 23.

The government had last week asked Justice Bobde to recommend the next Chief Justice of India.

Justice Ramana, the senior-most judge after CJI Bobde, was appointed to the Supreme Court on February 17, 2014. He will have a tenure till August 26, 2022.

Justice Bobde took over as the 47th Chief Justice of India in November 2019, succeeding Justice (retired) Ranjan Gogoi.
