Indian and Pakistan armies on Thursday celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr along the Line of Control at the Poonch-Rawalakot Crossing Point and Mendhar-Hotspring Crossing Point in the Poonch district of Jammu & Kashmir.

On the occasion, soldiers of the neighbouring armies exchanged sweets and compliments in an atmosphere of bonhomie and festivities, Jammu-based defence spokesman Lt Col Devender Anand said.

The ceremony is seen as a confidence-building measure between both countries.

"The gesture was appreciated by both the armies and is expected to promote goodwill and mutual trust," he added.

The Indian and Pakistani defence forces had announced that they will observe a ceasefire along the LoC since the midnight of February 24.

The forces also held a flag meeting at the brigade commander-level in March.
