Highlights: ‘Vietnam important pillar of India's Act East Policy, signed 7 new agreements’

Synopsis

PM Modi said that Vietnam is an "important pillar of India's Act East Policy" and a "big partner" of India's Indo-Pacific vision.  

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Xuan Phuc addressed the India-Vietnam virtual meeting highlighting the importance of the relationship between New Delhi and Hanoi. 

PM Modi said that Vietnam is an "important pillar of India's Act East Policy" and a "big partner" of India's Indo-Pacific vision.

“Vietnam is an important pillar of India's Act East Policy and vital partner of our Indo-Pacific Vision,” said the PM.

“Next year both of us will be members of UN Security Council. So significance of our cooperation in global context will increase. We will implement a Joint Vision Document 2021-23 which is a plan of action for bilateral engagement.”

“We've also signed 7 new agreements on areas such as scientific research, nuclear & renewable energy, petrochemicals, defence, and other diverse subjects like cancer treatment. We're also taking new initiatives to strengthen our socio-cultural relations,” he added.

“Our cooperation can contribute to maintaining peace and stability in the region. Peace, stability and prosperity in Indo-Pacific region is our common aim.”

Meanwhile, PM of Vietnam Nguyen Xuan Phuc said, “I thank you for your kind remarks about the relationship between India and Vietnam. I am very happy that we have this virtual submit which underlines the commitments of both countries to further deepening the bilateral relations.”
