Delhi begins unlocking from Monday; know what is allowed and what is not

In a video broadcast, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that the unlock measures would be monitored for a week.


The Arvind Kejriwal administration in Delhi has announced unlock measures which will come into force from Monday.

Even as Coronavirus cases continue to dip in the national capital, the lockdown imposed in the city will end on Monday.

In a video broadcast, Chief Minister Kejriwal said that the unlock measures would be monitored for a week.

The relaxations will continue if cases do not rise again, he said, adding that his government was prepared for the possible third wave of Coronavirus.

Here's a list of what's allowed from Monday in Delhi:

* Markets, market complexes, malls can remain open from 10 AM to 8 PM.

* Restaurants can operate with 50% seating capacity. 

* Group A Government offices can operate with 100% capacity while the rest will work with 50% staff.

* Private offices can work with 50% staff, from 9 AM to 5 PM

* Marriages will not have more than 20 attendees. The same rule applies to funerals and last rites.

* Delhi Metro trains and city buses to operate with 50% capacity. 

* Public transport, including auto-rickshaws, e-rikshaw and taxis, to ferry not more than two passengers.

* Religious places have been opened. But no visitors to be allowed for now.

Here's a list of what remains closed in Delhi:

* Schools, colleges, educational and coaching institutes to remain shut.

* Social, political, sports, academic, cultural and religious gatherings to remain shut.

* Theatre, multiplexes, entertainment parks, amusement parks, water parks, banquet halls, auditoriums and assembly halls to remain shut.

* Swimming pools, stadiums, sports complexes, spas, gymnasiums, yoga institutes, public parks, and gardens remain shut.
