Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced that India is preparing to run the world's largest vaccination program in the next year.
Addressing a gathering via video conferencing while laying the foundation stone for a new All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Gujarat's Rajkot, Prime Minister Modi said that preparation is on full swing to mobilise and distribute India-manufactured vaccine to everyone.
"The year 2020 was full of transition, concerns and question marks. But 2021 is bringing hope for a cure. Every necessary preparation is going on in India regarding the vaccine," he said.
Asserting that the number of new Coronavirus cases in the country is now decreasing, Prime Minister Modi warned people against falling for rumours.
"In our country, rumours spread quickly. Different people for their personal gains or due to irresponsible behaviour spread various rumours. Maybe rumours will be spread when vaccination begins, some have already begun," he said.
Reiterating that implementation and impact are equally important, the Prime Minister said, "India took effective measures on time with solidarity, the result of which is that we are in a much better position today. The country, with a population of more than 130 crores, there are about 10 million who have won the fighting against Coronavirus."
