Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri slammed the Congress for opposing the construction of the Central Vista Project when some of its leaders hailed infrastructure projects abroad.

Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has taken potshots at the Congress for opposing the construction of the Central Vista Project while some of its leaders sang peans for infrastructure projects abroad.

On Tuesday, the Union Minister dug up a statement of former UPA government Foreign Minister Salman Khurshid praising China and expressing his interest to live in Beijing.

The minister noted that Khurshid made the remarks a week after the border dispute in the Ladakh region in 2013.

I am reminded of another senior Congress leader who had gushed that he would “love to live in Beijing” during his visit to China just days after our standoff with them in Ladakh in 2013.

When reminded of the sour relations, he brushed them off as just an ‘acne’ on the cheek. pic.twitter.com/EC1nAzzZ41

Hitting out at Congress, Hardeep Singh contended that the Congress leaders praised the development in other countries but are making all efforts to criticise the infrastructural works taking place in India.

Hardeep Singh Puri did not stop there. He pulled out a tweet belonging to another UPA-era minister, Shashi Tharoor, who had reportedly complained about the Indian Parliament having crammed benches and called for its upgrade while speaking highly of the Malaysian Parliament in 2018.

During his visit to the Lower House of the Malaysian Parliament in 2018, Tharoor had heaped praise on the Malaysian Parliament, saying, "each MP has their own nameplate, plush leather swivel chair, laptop and mike".

In the same breath, Tharoor had said, "We in Lok Sabha sit crammed on benches with no leg room to stand, let alone swivel."

When Shashi Tharoor visited the Malaysian Parliament in 2018 he apparently loved the modern new building including the swivel chairs & name plates.

He also correctly lamented how he had to sit on crammed benches in an old building & declared it to be a “Time for an upgrade.” pic.twitter.com/chu85Wazhp

Hardeep Singh Puri's Tweets are bound to leave the Congress party red-faced, considering that the party has vehemently criticised the Central Vista project by calling it a "vanity project".
