Silencing his critics and Hitting back at Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa over his remarks concerning Pakistani journalist Aroosa Alam, former Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh put an end to the debate by sharing a picture of the Pakistani national with Congress interim chief Sonia Gandhi.

Amarinder Singh's media advisor Raveen Thukral tweeted the statement of the former chief minister in which Amarinder Singh clarified that Aroosa Alam had been coming to India for 16 years with due clearance from the government of India.

In a tweet on Friday Raveen Thukral, quoted the former CM as saying, “As for who sponsored Aroosa’s visa, of course, I did, for 16 years. And FYI, Sukhjinder requests for such visas are sent by Indian HC to MEA, which gets them cleared by RAW & IB before approval. And that’s what happened, in this case, every time.” He further added, “A detailed inquiry was conducted in 2007, when I was no longer CM, by NSA on orders of then UPA PM before granting visa to Aroosa Alam. You still want to waste Punjab’s resources on this? I’ll help you with whatever you need.”

In a series of tweets, Punjab Deputy CM Randhawa said, "By the way, sir @capt_amarinder why are you so perturbed over probe on Aroosa and ISI links? Who sponsored her visa and everything concerning her will be thoroughly probed. I do hope everyone concerned will co-operate with police in the probe."

Earlier, Amarinder Singh had questioned the tall promises of Congress on Bargari sacrilege and drugs cases.

Amarinder Singh, who severed ties with Congress after he was forced to resign from Punjab CM post, had said earlier this week that he will launch a new political party soon to fight the forthcoming Assembly polls in the state and is hopeful of a tie-up with BJP if the ongoing protest by farmer unions against three farm laws is resolved "in farmers' interest".

Punjab is slated to go to the polls early next year.
