World's largest strategic cargo aircraft Antonov 124 on Sunday landed in New Delhi with aid from the United Kingdom.
India received another consignment of three oxygen generating plants and other medical equipment from the United Kingdom as part of global cooperation in assisting New Delhi to battle against the Coronavirus pandemic.
The Antonov 124 flew from Belfast airport with three 18-tonne oxygen generators and 1,000 ventilators. Each generator can generate 500 litres of oxygen per minute.
"Taking forward our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Consignment of 3 O2 generators & 1,000 ventilators arrives from the UK. Each generator has the capacity to produce 500 litres of O2/min, enough to treat 50 people at a time. Deeply value the contribution from our close friend," Ministry of External Affairs Arindam Bagchi said in a tweet.
"Good to see the UK sending three shipping container-sized oxygen generators from Belfast to India. Each can be used by 50 people at one time, helping India’s Covid-19 battle. We will only beat this pandemic if we work together," UK's Foreign Secretary and First Secretary of State Dominic Raab had said in a tweet on May 7.
The shipment was received by the Indian Red Cross. The three oxygen plants on trucks later left for Ajmer and Jhalawar in Rajasthan, and Chirag in Assam.
