In yet another outrageous revelation, following the drug racket bust in Hyderabad, the Telangana government has sent IPS officer and the director Excise and Enforcement, Akun Sabharwal on leave. The man behind the bust, he was apparently a threat for the relationship that the government shared with the Telugu film industry. Given the celebrity names that were involved in the drug racket, the government thought it best to remove the officer temporarily to safeguard the actors.
The Telugu film industry is one of the chief revenue providers for the Telangana government. Precisely why, the ruling party fears that if the celebrity names get entangled in the racket, Tollywood will shift to Vizag, which falls in the sister state.
While speculations are rife that the Telangana government has sent the IPS officer on 'leave' of 10 days deliberately, Sabharwal himself denies the allegations against the government. He says that he has to be on leave for some personal work.
