Son sets father on fire in Telangana for asking him to study

A man was set on fire by his teenage son for reprimanding him for not studying enough The boy bought petrol from a bunk in the evening and poured it on his father when he was sleeping The police have arrested the boy for attempt to murder

Parents are always a worried lot about their children’s studies. But this incident will make a parent think twice about voicing those concerns to their children. In a shocking incident, the father of a teenager was set on fire by his son for reprimanding him for not burning the midnight oil.

The incident occurred in Bellampally, Telangana, where a 17-year-old set his father on fire on Monday, June 5, for admonishing him on neglecting his studies. The boy is pursuing a polytechnic course. The police said on the same day the father also had a fight with his wife and the son tried to intervene.  

The angry father then asked the son not to interfere and concentrate on his studies instead. This set the boy off, who then planned to kill his father. The police told The New Indian Express that he bought petrol from a bunk in the evening and poured it on his father when he was sleeping.He then set him on fire.

The man’s screams alerted his other family members and neighbours who rushed in and put out the fire.They shifted him to a hospital in Mancherial.

The police have arrested the boy for attempt to murder and are investigating the case.
