KCR praises Indian Women’s Cricket Team

KCR hailed the women’s cricket team for putting up a good fight He applauded them for being an inspiration to the Indian women He also congratulated Mithali Raj for her ODI world record

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao congratulated the Indian Women’s cricket team for their performance in the finals of the ICC World Cup.

Though the Indian team lost to England by just 9 runs, it was a nail-biting match till the end. England team scored 228/7 in 50 overs, and giving a brilliant chase, at one point it almost looked like the women’s team would finally bring its first World Cup home.  

India just missed the Cup by 9 runs scoring 219/10 in 48.4 overs. Nonetheless, Indian skipper Mithali Raj, who is from Hyderabad, has made the country proud. She is now the highest run-scorer in One-Day International (ODI) format scoring 6000 runs which put her on par with Sachin Tendulkar and Muthiah Muralidaran.

Telangana CM KCR said that despite the loss, it was still a proud moment for India. He said Hyderabad girls excelled in Cricket, Tennis and Badminton and won awards and were a huge inspiration to the girls. He reiterated the fact that there’s a need to encourage women in the field of sports.
