Hyderabad group builds app to help drunk reach home safely

A new app was launched in Hyderabad to help those drunk reach home safely, while also help keep the public safe on the roads. In whatever intoxicated state the drunk maybe – staggering, lost, incapacitated - this app would take them safely to their homes. The app called ‘Ok Boys’ was launched on Sunday in Hyderabad by Polasa Ravi Kumar. It can be downloaded from Google Playstore.

All one needs to do in case expects to be too drunk by the end of the day, is to open this app and key-in his information, address and current location. Within minutes a driver and helper on a two-wheeler will reach the location. They would take the responsibility of taking the drunk safely home. The driver’s charges are Rs.250 and the assistant’s Rs 100.

Last year in July, a drunk drove his car and took the lives of a small girl Ramya, her uncle and grandfather. Ravi said that that incident was the inspiration behind the app.

Unemployed youth who can drive a two-wheeler and a four-wheeler can work for their company on full-time or part-time employment. Ravi said that the services of this app would be made available slowly throughout the state.
